TDR SIGNAL SIMULATION USING A WAVE GUIDE 2D MODEL

In order to achieve a numeric model of the TDR probe, we propose to study a waveguide in which the electrical properties depend on the space. The mathematical model is the Maxwell equations that is solved under their primitive shape. We achieve a resolution of type space-time by the Finite Elements method. The TDR probe is modelised by two parallel electrodes that constitute a wave guide functioning in TM fashion, to the entry of which one sends an electric implulsion. We present a Finite Elements formulation of which the schemes of resolution are stable. After a validation in the vacuum, an electric peculiarity, modelising a spot of humidity, is introduced to the neighborhood of the electrodes. The amperage electric at the entry of the wave guide is calculated, and one puts in evidence a distortion of the answer due to this electric peculiarity. This survey permits to specify, by access to the local values, the intimate working of a TDR probe.
