An Infrastructure Summer - 2004 for elementary school students
 June 9 - August 11, 2004
The Northwestern University Infrastructure Technology Institute and the Country Meadows Montessori School were pleased to hold the second elementary school program on infrastructure and transportation. Infrastructure Technology Institute Director David Schulz presented five classes on infrastructure and transportation in each of the two summer sessions, for a total of ten classes. Students learned about infrastructure through class lectures, field trips, and hands-on classroom exercises. A CD documenting the course is being provided to the participants.

An Infrastructure Summer - 2003 for elementary school students
 June 11 - August 6, 2003
Institute Director Dave Schulz taught the first nine-session class in infrastructure to first through sixth graders this summer at the Country Meadows Montessori School in Gurnee, Illinois. The class consisted of classroom discussions, projects and field trips to a local road project, airport, and the Illinois Railway Museum, rides on a Metra commuter rail train and CTA rapid transit train, and a Chicago River boat trip. It is hoped the results of this experimental class will allow the Institute, other elementary schools, and professional organizations to do a better job of teaching young school children what infrastructure is and its importance to modern society.  A CD containing presentations, photos and videos documenting the course was provided to the participants.
