Educational Outreach
ITI is dedicated to infrastructure related education through a variety of programs for students and teachers, as well as the general public. Continual opportunities
are provided for faculty and students to participate in Institute research
activities in a variety of circumstances, including accompanying our
researchers on fieldwork and Institute-sponsored student/faculty field
trips. All research from the institute has generated published scholarly papers, which is made available to all through electronic versions on our website.
As
an adjunct professor in Northwestern's Department of Civil Engineering,
ITI Director Dave Schulz created and has taught for the last six years Northwestern's
first course in Public Infrastructure Management. Based on the success
of the course, the Master's degree in Program Management in Civil Engineering
now includes an infrastructure concentration. ITI has also created learning opportunities for high school and elementary age students through it's annual summer institute programs.
