Management & Policy Studies
ITI is actively engaged in transportation policy discussion at the
local, regional, and national levels. The ITI director and sponsored
faculty are frequently consulted by public and private transportation
and infrastructure agencies, including the Chicago Transit Authority and
the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority. In particular, Founding
Director David Schulz and Prof. Joseph Schofer aided in the creation of
the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority's 1997 strategic plan.
ITI co-sponsors the William O. Lipinski Symposium on Transportation
Policy, an annual discussion of transportation issues in the Chicago
region, and the Midwest Bridge Working Group, a regional forum for
highway bridge management.
In addition to frequent presentations at professional conferences, the
ITI director and researchers are often invited to speak at meetings of
industry associations, government agencies, and citizens' groups.
