Prof. Surendra Shah is Murphy Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Director of the multi-institutional Center for Advanced Cement-Based Materials (ACBM) headquartered at Northwestern. His research interests include constitutive relationships, failure and fracture of concrete, non-destructive testing, durability, and impact and impulsive loading. He is co-author of : "Fiber Reinforced Cement-Based Composites," "High Performance Concretes and Applications," and "Fracture Mechanics of Concrete." His work with the Institute has included nondestructive testing and evaluation of various properties of concrete, including recently ultrasonic testing of concrete strength.
